Hey! I’m Daniel.

I’m a founder, software engineer, product manager, and UI designer based in San Francisco. Previously, co-founder & CTO of Canopy (a spin-off from 37signals), and now advisor. Before founding Canopy, I led web engineering and product at IFTTT.

Currently exploring AI by building different products using LLMs. I’m passionate about early-stage startups, coding, design, product, and management. If I can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Outside of work, I’m a scuba diver and a lifelong cyclist (Road, Mountain, and BMX).

First 120 Days as Technical Co-Founder

I've been looking back into my daily stand-up updates and turning things into monthly or quarterly reflections under the #journal tag here. This note is from my first quarter at Canopy after doing some parsing and summarization over the last 7 years.

Using LLMs to parse 7 years of stand-up updates

I've been trying to help some colleagues get a job in this current market, and one thing that I noticed is that people struggle to keep their LinkedIn/resumes up to date with their actual achievements.

End of a 7-year journey as a founder

This last month was bittersweet. I've celebrated great achievements at work. We rebranded KYT to Canopy in just three weeks, launched our iOS app, and I shipped our AI Assistant. But, last week was also my last one full-time at Canopy. Things weren't always easy. Going after the ambitious goal of helping people become better managers at scale with a small team required a lot of effort, and I am so proud of what we accomplished.
